Understanding Age Criteria and Required Documents for CIS Admissions

Choosing the right school for your child is a big decision—and at Cambridge International School (CIS) Qatar, we’re here to make the admissions process as smooth and straightforward as possible. If you’re planning to enroll your child with us, it’s important to understand the age criteria and the necessary documents you’ll need to complete the application. Let’s walk through it together!

Age Criteria for Admission at CIS

At CIS, we follow specific age guidelines to ensure that children are placed in the appropriate grade level for their developmental stage. Here’s a simple breakdown:

  • Pre-KG: Children must be 3 years old by September 30 of the admission year.

  • KG 1: Children must be 4 years old by September 30.

  • KG 2: Children must be 5 years old by September 30.

  • Grade 1: Children must be 6 years old by September 30.

  • Higher Grades: Age requirements continue sequentially. Generally, a child’s age should align with the corresponding grade level.

It’s important to note that these age criteria are set to align with Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education regulations. Our goal is to ensure that each student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally in the right environment.

Essential Documents for Admission

  5. Passport Size Photographs: 4 recent photos of the student.

    • If your child is transferring from another school, we require the latest two years of academic reports.

    • For KG admissions, any nursery or preschool reports (if available) are helpful.

  8. Transfer Certificate:

    • Mandatory for students coming from another school in Qatar.

    • For students joining from outside Qatar, the certificate must be attested by the relevant authorities.

  9. Medical Certificate: Confirming that the student is fit for school (some cases may require additional health checks).

Depending on the grade level and where you are transferring from, some additional documents might be requested.
